Breastfeeding for Doulas

We’re kicking off the new year with a powerful, hands-on learning opportunity just for doulas.

On Sunday, January 18th from 1–3 PM, we’re welcoming Kacey Widmeier, IBCLC, to Nurture for a “Breastfeeding for Doulas” training designed to deepen your confidence in supporting lactation from the very first feed and beyond.

As doulas, we’re often the first person a new parent turns to with questions like:

“Is this latch okay?”

“Are they getting enough?”

“Why does this hurt?”

In this class, Kacey will cover:

  • What’s normal in the first hours and days

  • How to recognize red flags and when to refer

  • Positioning and latch basics doulas can safely support

  • How birth experiences (induction, epidural, cesarean, etc.) impact feeding

  • Gentle, practical language to encourage and reassure tired new parents

This session is perfect for both new and experienced doulas who want to feel more grounded and skilled when supporting feeding in those tender early days.

The training will run from 1:00–3:00 PM, with CE credit available for those who attend. Doulas are warmly encouraged to stay for the social time afterward to connect, debrief, and build community—because our work is easier and more sustainable when we’re not doing it alone.
